06/04/2018 - College PREP - Deer Park (Houston), TX Devon is an athletic and talented 2019 pitching prospect. On the bump, Devon gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He works north to south and rides the backside to the plate. He pounds the bottom part of the strike zone and has good depth in his breaking ball. Devon will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Devon is a very projectable 2B/RHP that competed with sound ability on all sides of the ball at the Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City. Defensively in the MIF, he worked to the baseball efficiently with good body control, and got his hands into a good position ready to field, on-time. His hands played soft and he threw with a quick arm stroke. His overall feel for defense was a plus and he will continue to improve with quicker feet. Offensively, he tracked the ball well and had good strike zone discipline. He showed a contact approach, generating decent bat speed, and worked to implement more hand/hip coordination with rhythm throughout cage work. On the hill, he threw a FB with tail from 75-77, and spun an 11/5 CB with late break from 62-63. He repeated his delivery with a good tempo and attacked hitters early. In all - Devon is maxed out intangibly and will continue to improve with his athletic frame and passion for the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
