07/21/2010 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Diego is a young, thin, SS that can switch hit. Defensively, Diego attacks the ball aggressively, he moves well laterally, and he makes routine plays. He has active feet, a good release, and throws accurately to his target. If Diego can field the ball further out in front of his body, and quicken his exchange, defensive numbers will further improve. Offensively, Diego is a better hitter from the right side. He swings in good rhythm, has a good trigger, and he gets good extension through the ball. Shortening his stroke will only help hitting numbers from the right side improve. From the left side, Diego is a contact hitter who hits the ball hard to the pull side. He will need to improve his strength, trigger, and use more backside in order for lefty numbers to get better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
