01/05/2020 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Deigo continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. His feet play well, and he moves with good body control to the baseball, displaying proper footwork around bag. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing (92 mph exit velocity) with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

10/30/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Corpus Christi, TX Diego is a strong/broad 1B who will graduate in 2023. At 1B, he displays active footwork as he takes quick angles on Gb's. He fields the ball, sets his feet and makes accurate throws to his target. With the bat, this righty presents a solid setup in the box. He lets the ball travel as he drives pitches with pull side pop and extends through contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
