Official Scouting Report

  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

06/21/2024 - College World Series Experience - Session 2 Diego is a 5ft 10/165 SS/RHP in the 2026 class. He recently performed well at the Omaha experience and impressed scouts with his hard work and willingness to improve and make adjustments. In the field, he was engaged on every pitch. He has a relaxed feel and his feet are in sync with his body. He has a low funnel and plays under the baseball. Arm works at 80 velo and he is accurate to his targets. On the mound, he stays composed and shows the ability to control the running game. Scouts like his ability and would like his to attack the hitters more. His FB sat 74-5 and his breaking pitch shaped 11-5 with tight spin. At the plate, he had a great week with 3 hits and 2 BB’s. He stays through the ball well and has barrel feel. Overall, he improved during the week and scouts feel he raised his stock.

01/28/2024 - All-In National Showcase - San Marcos (San Diego), CA Diego is a talented two-way (2B/RHP) in the 2026 class. His 5ft 10/165 frame had athletic feel in his recent Factory workout for scouts. On the dirt, he has active feet and works behind the baseball. Plays under the ball and stays on the side of the ball for his release. Arm has depth at 76 and working to stay more on top will increase added velo and accuracy to his game. On the mound, he is in the zone from a high 3 qtr. slot. His FB works both sides of the plate at 74. His CB shaped 11-5 and can be thrown for strikes in any count. His SL shows sweeping actions to offer a chase pitch at 63. At the plate, he displays strength in his swing. He begins in a tall set up and stays square to the dish. Gets into his load well and hits off a firm front side. Hands work at 80 exit velo and his path is short and direct. He finds the barrel with consistency and demonstrates line drive production. Overall, Diego still has two years to grow his game and scouts feel he can take off at any moment.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
