10/31/2010 - College PREP - Greensboro, NC Dillon is a young (2013) catcher with tall, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature and fill out. He shows a solid setup with accuracy on his throws but needs to get feet working in line to his target. Transfer / exchange are long as he needs to utilize two hands more efficiently through the process. Pop times show a range of 2.17 - 2.34 as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, lowering pop times. Receiving skills are solid as he tracks the ball well through a quiet setup that allows his glove action to work well. Blocking skills are near average, needing further development to be a quality tool at the next level. Offensively, Crowder shows a level swing path and makes consistent contact but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. With 3 years to further develop, Dillon has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
