05/23/2010 - College PREP - Phoenix, AZ Dominic is a young 3B with a big body that shows projection as he continues to polish and firm up. Feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get the baseball, playing through with feet / hands. He moves well laterally, especially glove side as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Glove action is soft, sure just deep at times due to feet stopping through the fielding process. Offensively, Leal loads well and utilizes his lower half with proper weight transfer. Swing path is level but gets long creating a dead pull type swing. He needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. With 2 years to further develop, Dominic has potential with time and room to continue to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
