09/19/2010 - College PREP - Santa Barbara, CA Dominik is a two-way player as a catcher plus on the mound with a stocky frame that shows projection as he continues to polish, firming up. Currently, he projects best as a catcher for the next level. Feet are active but needs to work more in line with his target and speed up his transfer / exchange through the throwing process. He throws from an over the top arm slot with accuracy but needs to get on a long toss program to further develop more arm strength and carry. Pop times show a range of 2.26-2.50. Receiving skills show potential as being a quality tool. Blocking skills are average needing further development to be a quality tool at the next level. Offensively, Woods shows a balanced approach with hands working inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-76 mph with slight arm side run. Off speed pitches are slight above average, needing further development to get outs at the next level. Dominik has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
