Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Donny showed similar abilities on the hill at Team One, as he did at previous workouts. He is a big, solid, RHP with good stuff. He has a good fastball, sharp CB, and a devastating CH. Donny has a sound delivery, throws 1st pitch strikes, and he attacks hitters. He has a quick / easy arm action and excellent mound presence. Pitching can get even better if Donny can work more on a downhill plane and hold runners on base better.

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Norris continues to show improvements in his abilities on the mound. Delivery is sound showing proper mechanics that allows his arm action to work clean, loose, and free away from his body. Arm strength has improved as he topped out at 89 mph on a downhill plane. He throws a slider and breaking ball with slider being the better of the two. Changeup shows late sinking action but needs to work on keeping pitch low. Donny will get a lot of looks from the top collegiate coaches and pro scouts.

11/01/2009 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Donny is a young RHP with a big, solid body that is well suited for his position. Delivery is sound showing solid mechanics that allows his loose, quick, arm action to work free away from his body. Arm strength is outstanding as indicated by his top velocity of 88 mph. Fastball has 87-88 mph range showing as a heavy ball that he keeps low in the zone. Changeup is best off speed pitch showing a plus feel for with late sinking action. Slider shows solid late depth with tight spin and short break. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin. Command and control is a plus as he hits spots with all his pitches, challenging hitters. He has solid tempo and mound presence, displaying confidence. With 2 years to further develop, Norris has a huge upside on the mound and will get a lot of attention from the top collegiate programs as well as pro scouts with his abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
