01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Hubbard showed well during his time at the UA Preseason. At 3B, Douglass showed a good set-up, firm hands, and active feet. He works through the ball, his exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball with life and consistency to his target. On the mound, Douglass has a long arm action, he separation is on-time, and he shows good composure on the hill. He has a short / compact motion and keeps his eyes on target. At the plate, Hubbard has an aggressive swing, he tracks the ball well, and he makes hard / consistent contact.

On the mound, fastball was effective with breaking ball displaying 10/4 shape with gradual break. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player that keeps guys loose in the dugout.

06/22/2012 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Hubbard continues to show improvements in his game at 3B and on the mound. At the plate, power grades have improved, now showing well above average power. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he shows a plus feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. At 3B, his feet are active and displays clean hands. He needs to improve foot speed and present his hands more out front to improve defensive grades. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-85 mph with slight arm side run. 10/16/2011 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Douglass is a solid, athletic RHP / 3B that will graduate in 2013. On the mound, delivery is sound as he works in-line with on time separation through a solid balance point. Arm action is free through a long arm arc and high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break as he needs to work to stay on top and develop a consistent release point. Changeup shows decent feel for with arm side run and shows potential as being a quality pitch at next level. Command / control can be an issue as he needs to work on throwing more strikes with all his pitches. At 3B, hands are soft, clean, and sure as he displays active / efficient feet. He needs to be more aggressive in playing through more to improve defensive grades. At the plate, Hubbard shows a solid, athletic setup and works to keep hands inside the ball. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. He needs to work on getting front foot down sooner to be on time and improve offensive grades. With 2 years to further develop, Douglass has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
