Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

02/19/2024 - National Showcase - Parker , CO Drake is a 2027 C/RHP prospect from Estes Park, CO. Behind the dish, he gets in a good setup and gives his pitcher a good target. He shows off impressive pocket awareness and really sticks the baseball when receiving. He works hard to have a quick release and stay accurate to his targets. He moves laterally really well and does a great job of keeping the ball in front on balls in the dirt. At the plate, he starts in an open stance and gets a good load. He does a good job of staying centered in the box and stays active with his lower half. He has a line drive approach and does a good job of letting his hips finish through contact. On the mound, he shows off an impressive front side and works hard to have a clean release. He gets solid extension and has a good follow through with a proper stride length for his size. He ran his FB up to 70 MPH and did a good job of locating the pitch. His CB has gradual break and good spin. With 3+ years of high school left, Drake has an opportunity to continue to develop and really shine!

04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Parker, CO Drake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centers balls out front and shows a quick recovery. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.25. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 62-65 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action.

11/03/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex Drake is a two way (C/RHP) in the 2027 class. Behind the plate, he has a good set-up and receives well. Shows flexibility and mobility with a low stance. His eyes stay behind the baseball and the ball sticks to the glove. His hands are soft and can maintain the strike zone. His exchanges are clean and quick and can get rid of the baseball from a high ¾ slot. Feeds are on the bag. Working to throw the top of the baseball and throw downhill will increase his ability to shut down the running game. On the mound, he uses a two-pitch mix and is around the zone. Shows good mound presence and feel for both pitches. His FB topped at 61 with running actions. His CB sat 50-3 with 11-5 shape. At the plate, he has a solid set-up and good balance. Shows strong barrel feel and the ball jumps off the bat. Weight stays inside his feet and has minimal head movement. Overall, Drake has the tools to become a great player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
