Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

06/17/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 1 Drew showed improvements in his game at 3B during his time in Omaha. He is a strong, solid, player that also Pitches. In the INF, Drew has solid hands and he uses his body to stay in front of the baseball. He has a loose / quick arm, and he whips the ball accurately across the diamond to his target. He improved both his arm and fielding grades at the event. If Drew can work to field the ball more out in front of his body, and quicken his feet, defensive abilities will continue to get better. On the mound, Drew shows a simple delivery and is inline to his target. He has a loose arm, is around the zone, and he shows the ability to compete. More use of his lower 1/2, and added physical strength should help Drew further improve on the hill. At the plate, Drew has strong hands and a quick bat. He has small / compact load, his hands stay in a good position, and the ball jumps off of his bat. If Drew can get his front foot down sooner, load more on time, and loosen his hands, offensive grades can get better.

12/06/2009 - College PREP - McCook, IL Drew is a young two-way player at 3B plus on the mound with a tall, solid frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is below average as he needs to get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active in getting into a proper fielding position but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball with his feet and hands to aid in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Defensive abilities are near average with average arm strength as he will benefit by getting on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, Creekmur has slightly above average abilities with solid average power through a balanced approach. He has strength in his swing displaying a solid feel for the barrel to the pull side due to long swing path as he needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to stay back, utilizing his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 77-78 mph. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch displaying 12/6 shape with tight spin, flashing potential to be a quality pitch at the next level. Changeup is average on a flat plane. He needs work on the mechanics of his delivery to aid in a more consistent release point. With 2 years to further develop, Drew has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
