04/10/2011 - College PREP - Philadelphia, PA Drew is a young, athletic OF who will graduate in 2012. Defensively, Drew has quick / active feet, he is aggressive to the ball, and he gets good reads off the bat. He takes proper angles, he fields in an athletic position, and his hands are sure. Drew has a quick / clean exchange, and he throws with a short / loose arm action with average strength to his target. Defensive tool grades can get better if Drew can get on top of the baseball, finish off his throws, and add arm strength. Offensively, Drew has a square / athletic set-up, a proper load, and a short stride. He has good balance, fast bat speed, and he makes hard / consistent contact. Drew has quick hands, his swing is short, and he has pop in his bat. Offensive tool grades can further improve if Drew can work the away pitch better, and use more lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
