09/21/2008 - College PREP - Overland Park, KS Drew is a 1B with a solid, strong looking body. He shows his strength at the plate where he displays solid average power with slightly average hitting ability. He has bat speed and does a nice job of keeping hands inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He gets the barrel to and through the ball at the point of contact. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. In the infield, defensive abilities are near average displaying a solid glove action. Footwork is efficient just slow. He needs to get on a speed / agility program to quicken foot speed. He has an idea with his play just needs to speed up actions. Arm strength is well below average and must get on a strict long toss program to aid in building more arm strength. Drew has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
