07/19/2010 - College PREP - Carrollton (DFW), TX Dustin is a two-way player as a catcher plus as a SS with a solid athletic body that is well suited for his position. Currently he projects best as a catcher for the next level. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with his hands / feet working well together, through an easy transfer and exchange. Pop times are outstanding, showing a range of 1.91-1.97 as he will control the running game with his arm. Throws shows life, carry and accuracy into his target. Receiving and blocking skills show potential as being quality tools at the next level as he continues to improve. In the IF, feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get the baseball with his body. Offensively, Weaver is a switch hitter that shows best from the left side. He sits in well, showing a balanced approach. Hands work to stay inside the baseball as he shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. Dustin has a lot of abilities, especially as a catcher with a lot of room to improve. He will catch the eyes of some collegiate coaches in need of a solid defensive catcher.
