07/15/2010 - Cape Cod Training 2010 - Session 2 Dylan is a two-way player as a catcher and RHP with an average, strong frame. Feet are active as he works in line with his target with throws showing accuracy with pop times showing a range of 2.04-2.30 with a means of 2.25. Receiving and blocking skills are below to near average as he needs further development for tools to play at the next level. He shows natural actions and is very coachable. Offensively, Allen shows a level swing path through a balanced approach but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches and holds runners well. Dylan has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
