01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Dylan is a talented (2022) catching prospect who showed very well during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season event. A switch hitting catcher with his tools is a commodity at the next level. At the plate, he remains aggressive and steps into the box looking to swing it. He shows similarly from both sides while looking slightly more natural from the left. Swing is quick/compact as he barrels the ball up with pop consistently. Although aggressive he remains selective seeing pitches in the zone, proven by his drawing of 3 BB's in game AB's. Behind the dish, Blyleven sits in with quiet actions and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. Footwork to throw is efficient as he replaces well and puts his throws on the bag. A solid all-around skill-set, Dylan has a ton of upside and is a player to keep an eye on.

10/06/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Grapevine (DFW), TX Dylan is an athletic C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Dylan shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a plus swing form both sides. He sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives and power potential. Overall, Dylan is a talented prospect who shows the skill set to contribute at the next level.

07/17/2018 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX Dylan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter and has improved abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.05 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Arm strength is well above average (84 mph velocity) with accuracy and on line carry through his target. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process as he is a wall behind the plate. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. With 4 years to further develop, Dylan has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

07/10/2016 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Dylan is an exciting, talented player who shows off his skills at the plate and behind it. He has a very advanced feel for catching already with good anticipation and footwork and excellent receiving skills. He is a great blocker, creating good angles and smothering the ball with his glove down. He also does a great job of working around pitches to frame them in the zone. Dylan also has smooth actions at third with quick feet and soft hands to field. He shows off an accurate arm across the diamond as well. At the plate, Dylan is a switch hitter with a pretty swing from both sides. He has good coordination of his hips and hands, clearing his hips to whip his hands through the zone and right to the ball. Keeping his hands back longer once he's loaded will help Dylan react to off speed pitches and make more hard contact. This is a very advanced player and one who will only continue to improve and impress.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
