06/09/2010 - Under Armour Southeast Regional Tournament - 2010 Chayes is a big strong kid that continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. We feel his best position for the next level will be as a 1B. He showed an accurate arm during drills and games, and made the routine plays during the games. He will need to continue to work on receiving balls as well as footwork around the bag. Offensively, Chayes flashed power to the pull side with barrel accuracy and was effective on balls thrown over the inner third of the plate. He needs to work on driving balls to the opposite field, especially for pitches on the outer third of the plate. Chayes has a projectable body and is a big target over at 1B. With continued hard work he should be an effective college player somewhere in 2011.
