06/17/2024 - College World Series Experience - Session 1 Dylan continues to impress with improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine with solid hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front side. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/08/2023 - National Showcase - Springdale, AR Dylan is an OF/SS who will graduate in 2027. Medium frame lean build with strength present and room to add throughout. In the OF, good first step reads enable him to cover ground in all directions and make routine plays. Showed good lateral range as he works behind/through the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Made on-line throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 73mph. At SS he starts with a prep step and has good body control at the baseball. Works from right to left and fields with his hands out front. Has a quick exchange and does a good job of keeping his feet moving throughout the process. At the plate, he hits from a crouched and square stance. Gets knob to C and takes an aggressive hack. Has a flat barrel path through the zone as he hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee the 2-way player making huge strides on the baseball field.

07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (MS) Dylan is a 2027 SS/RHP prospect who recently showcased his skills at the National World Series at the JRTC. At short, he shows off active footwork and range to the glove side, taking great angles to the baseball. He gets in an on-time, squared fielding position and presents his hands out in front when fielding. He has a loose, quick arm action and makes accurate throws across the diamond. He recorded a 76 MPH raw velo, improving on his previous mark in the process. At the plate, he starts in a squared, athletic stance with loose, comfortable hands and has an activated load with a squared stride toward the pitcher. He has an on-time rhythm and works through the baseball with his lower half. His swing path is on-plane and he displays solid bat speed. He has impressive coordination between his hips and hands and he makes consistent contact to the middle of the field. In game action, he reached base 4 times by walk in 6 plate appearances. On the mound, he features a 2-pitch mix from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a good presence and has a small starter step. He gathers his balance over the rubber and has a relaxed front knee. He keeps his eyes level and has a full finish with his arm action. He gets a proper stride length and his back leg works through his finish. He ran his FB up to 72 MPH and he showed off tight spin with his CB. He allowed two hits over 2 innings of game action but limited command of the strike zone gave him some problems. Dylan is an exciting prospect that we are excited to see more of as he enters his freshman year of high school!

01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Dylan Gerber is a 2027 RHP and SS prospect. At short, he reached a raw velo of 68 to showcase his arm strength. He has good momentum on his release and a clean exchange. Gets himself into a good position with athleticism pre-pitch. In the box, he has an open stance and low hands. Makes hard, consistent contact hitting line drives. He shows off good strength with the bat, and this should improve as he works to get his lower half more involved. Ran his exit velo up to 76 mph. On the mound, he works with a high 3/4 release and shows a good, confident presence. He gets separated on time and moves in a good direction, keeping his shoulders and stride in-line towards the plate. Breaking ball has good gradual break, but needs to work to throw it for a strike more consistently. Overall, Dylan is someone who projects well as he develops a stronger lower half and gets more reps.

10/09/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Springdale, AR Dylan is a young, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the OF, Dylan has agile range, a low fielding position, and a presentable glove. He takes good angles to field, his exchange is quick, and he throws with momentum to his cut off man. Abilities in the OF can improve if Dylan can field more aggressively, quicken footwork, and add arm strength. At SS, Dylan has a low/athletic fielding position, he keeps the ball in front of his body, and his exchange is quick. He stays in front of the baseball, he gains momentum to his target, and delivers the ball with accuracy. Aggressiveness to the ball and fielding further out in front will help abilities at SS improve. Offensively, Dylan has an open stance, he loads well, and stands in with good balance. He has good strike zone awareness, makes solid contact, and he uses his lower body well. Hitting numbers can improve if Dylan can avoid lunging, add bat speed, and let the ball travel.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
