11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Select Training & Competition (HS) Dylan is a versatile 2025 first baseman and left-handed pitcher from Sioux Falls, SD, who recently made significant improvements in all phases of his game at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona. Standing with a tall, lean frame, Dylan has plenty of room to add strength, which will further enhance his already solid skills. As a first baseman, he starts on the balls of his feet, staying low and agile to work around the ball. He has a quick, clean transfer and makes accurate throws to all bases, while his footwork around the bag is strong, allowing him to scoop balls with ease. At the plate, Dylan is a left-handed hitter who starts in a tall, open stance with comfortable hands. He utilizes his natural strength to generate gap-to-gap power, and when on plane early, his swing produces strong barrel contact. However, he has a tendency to lift and pop out at times, an area that can be fine-tuned for more consistency. On the mound, Dylan shows deceptive stuff, throwing a fastball, curveball, and slider. While his pitches have potential, he needs to smooth out his delivery and improve his command to reach his full potential as a pitcher. With another season of development, Dylan has the tools to continue growing both offensively and defensively, and with more refinement, he can become a key contributor on both sides of the game.

05/26/2024 - National Showcase - Minneapolis, MN Dylan is a LHP/1B who will graduate in 2025. On the mound he has long levers and a projectable frame. He gathers over the rubber and has a good rear hip coil. Throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm stroke. Gets good extension with his chest to his glove. Challenges hitters with a 3-pitch mix including a FB that sat 69-71mph, a 1/7 curveball, and a developing changeup. In the infield he works to center the ball and fields out front. Has a low funnel and squares up to throw. Showed good footwork around the bag. He hits from a crouched and square stance. Starts with a short glide step and is balanced at contact. Made contact to all fields during his round of BP. With another year of development, we foresee Dylan making huge strides on the baseball diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
