10/17/2010 - College PREP - Birmingham, AL Dylan is a corner IF with a big, thick frame that shows projection as he continues to polish and firm up. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. Foot speed is near average as indicated by his 7.69 60 time. He presents a solid target at 1B as he receives the ball well. Hands are soft, clean, and sure, consistently showing the ability to pick throws out of the dirt, saving throws. Arm strength is solid, showing accuracy and carry with hands and feet working well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Offensively is where Payne shows best through a solid, aggressive setup. He loads well with lower half working well, displaying balance through the swing. Hands are quick and direct to the baseball, generating bat speed. He makes consistent, hard contact with baseball exploding off his bat when centered as he displays strength in his swing. Dylan has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
