01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Dylon is an athletic 2015 dual-position player. At the Under Armour All America Pre-Season Tournament, the shortstop prepped well with his feet, and showed soft, sure hands. Lateral range is solid, his footwork is efficient, and he plays through aggressively. His arm is average, but his exchange is clean and he is very accurate. Foot speed needs to increase for range to increase. Offensively, his approach is simple. Hands are direct, and his lower half works properly. Tracks pitches and has a nice feel for the barrel. He needs to shorten up his stride some and let pitches travel deeper into the hitting zone. On the mound, Dylon attacks the zone and pitches to contact. Induces a lot of ground balls with a running fastball in the 80-82 mph range, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, and changeup with arm side movement. Would like to see him use his changeup more often. Has a nice idea on the moundjust needs to continue to strengthen his arm. He still has three high school seasons ahead of him, so he has a chance be become a solid college prospect.

08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Poncho showed as a SS/RHP at the event but currently projects best at SS for the next level but has potential on the mound. Defensive grades have improved to well above average. His feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well. His hands are soft / clean / sure as he makes all the plays and shows big play potential in the MIF. Throws display life, accuracy, and on line carry across the diamond as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Dylon shows a slightly open but athletic setup. His hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. On the mound, his fastball showed a range of 80-82 mph with arm side run. His breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches through a quick tempo. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard.

05/20/2012 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Dylan is a young SS that will graduate in 2015. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.19 60 time. Feet are quick / athletic as he attacks groundballs and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / clean / sure as he makes all the plays. He moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Throws are accurate with life / carry across the diamond. At the plate, Poncho continues to shine through an open / balanced approach. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed as he shows a feel for the barrel, mainly to the pull side. He needs to work on keeping hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and continue to improve hitting grades. With 3 years to further develop, Dylan has a ton of potential with the makings to be a special type player as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
