08/05/2010 - Vero Beach Pro Select Training and Competition - 2010 Edward is a young (2015) catcher with a lean, athletic frame that is well suited for his position and shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Defensively, his feet are active in working in line but he currently takes extra steps to get rid of the baseball. Transfer and exchange are consistent with pop times showing a range of 2.60-2.80, which is an improvement from what we saw earlier this year. Throws show accuracy, flashing carry. Nottingham will benefit by getting on a long toss program to further develop more arm strength, thus lowering pop times. Receiving and blocking skills show potential to be quality tools at the next level as he continues to develop. He has strong hands and presents a low target. Offensively, Nottingham shows a solid, athletic setup with hands working inside the ball, utilizing all fields as he shows a feel for the barrel. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and have strength with ball jumping off bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to increase as more overall body strength is gained. With 5 years to further develop, Edward has abilities with time and room to improve.
