Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Edward is a 1B/RHP in the 2022 class. In the field, he has active pre-pitch movements and gets square to the baseball. Fields in an athletic base with solid pocket feel. His exchanges are clean and gets into a loose arm action. Shows versatility by releasing from multiple arm slots based on fielding zone. Feet work well around the bag and can make adjustments based upon ball flight. On the mound, he is very deceptive and can miss barrels with high frequency. Although not a power type, his ability to hide the baseball from numerous arm angles plays to his advantage. His FB topped at 71 with sinking actions. He trusts his FB to attack hitters early in the count. His CB sat 60-2 with tight spin and 10/8 shape. His CH sat 66-69 and by taking something off, he can create more deception. At the plate, demonstrated pull side power (87 exit velo) with a simple and repeatable swing. Has a controlled load and stays centered in his swing. Edward will make a fine addition to a college roster in the very near future.

12/10/2021 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Edward is a 2022 1B/RHP who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament. At 1B, he is a big target, with ability to scoop balls, and has good footwork to his backhand side. He works to center the baseball and has a clean exchange. Has a quick arm stroke working into a 3/4 release point, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 71mph. He made accurate and on-line throws with good momentum to second base. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on-time. He keeps his eyes on target throughout his delivery and showed ability to command the strike zone with all of his pitches. He attacks hitters with his FB that topped out at 74mph with good movement in the zone. He mixed in a 10/4 shaped breaking ball with tight spin and a splitter with good sinking action. In 3 innings of work, he struck out 5 hitters and threw 55% of his pitches for strikes. At the plate, the right-handed hitter hits from an upright and open stance with activated hands. Has smooth timing to his swing and is balanced at contact. He hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 71mph. During the games, he reached base 3 times with a single, 2 walks, and a sacrifice bunt. With another year of development, we foresee Edward having a bright future on the baseball field.

08/01/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (HS) - HOTEL Edward continues to shine on the diamond. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/14/2021 - All-In Membership - Daytona Beach, FL Edward is a class of 2022 1B/RHP. At the plate, he shows a quality swing. Hits from a square stance with a short stride. Does a good job staying balanced throughout his swing. Lower ½ does a good job getting through the ball. Shows a good approach and works gap-to-gap. In the field, he shows fluid footwork. Fields from a low position and presents his hands out front. Does a good job fielding through the backhands. Creates angles and works downhill. On the mound, he delivers all pitches from a low ¾ arm slot. Does a good job repeating his mechanics. Shows the ability to throw 3 pitches for strikes. Fastball is best pitch and shows late run. Edward is a good 2-way player that we hope to see again in the future as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
