05/19/2013 - College PREP - Severn (Baltimore), MD Elijah is a thin, OF with an athletic frame. Defensively, Elijah is aggressive to the ball, he has good direction, and his footwork is playable. He keeps ground balls in front, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from a loose arm action. An earlier glove, fielding more out front, and added arm strength will help OF skills improve. Offensively, Elijah has a square set-up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a line drive swing, he squares it up well, and he has some pop in his bat. Hitting can improve with a looser grip and more lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
