06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Ejay continues shine on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and play through with is body he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive swing path with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Fastball shows a range of 76-77 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as quality pitches. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

09/12/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Bernardino, CA Eljay is a lean, athletic SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks and plays through balls with his body. Glove action soft / sure as he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with on line carry (81 mph velocity) to his target but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball well utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. With 3 years to further develop, Eljay has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
