12/27/2009 - Christmas Camp and Tournament #2 Romo continues to show steady play in his baseball abilities. Hands and feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, following his throws. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure as he presents out front in making all the plays. At the plate, Erik showed a balanced approach as he keeps hands through the baseball, displaying extension. He was 2 for 10 at the event.

10/18/2009 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Erik is a young middle infielder with a lean build. All of his grades improved slightly over his prior workout with us. He plays low and has life in his feet. Effort is solid, and he has a good idea overall. He needs to continue his momentum through the play. He tends to break down to field the ball instead of moving though the play. Would like to see him soften up his glove as well. At the plate, he has a line drive approach and puts the ball in play consistently. His path is direct, but he is a bit stiff and tends to get wrapped. A better load will help him overall. Erik has a couple of high school seasons to get stronger and add polish, but he has a good feel for the game.

09/06/2009 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Erik is a young middle infielder with a compact, athletic build. He has an accurate arm and a feel for double play feeds and turns. Needs to continue momentum all the way through the play. Actions need to loosen up in general, but especially his glove work. At the plate, he stays on balance and eyes stay down through contact. He doesn't load or stride, so his hands tend to be late to contact. Back leg is also anchored, and he starts with his bat wrapped. Cleaning up these mechanical flaws will help him with the bat tremendously. Still has time to develop and get stronger.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
