Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

02/24/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Erik is a hard-working and talented 2020 LHP prospect that made several adjustments during the pitching and catching accelerated training weekend. On the bump, Erik gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. His fastball has arm side run, and he pounds the bottom half of the zone consistently. Continuing to keep good posture and keeping a strong front side will allow him to have a more fluid delivery. Erik will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

02/10/2018 - Mid Atlantic Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Erik is an athletic and talented prospect that made several adjustments during the hitting accelerated training weekend. At the plate, Erik starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the launch position. He stays balanced through contact and attacks the ball with his lower half. His relaxed approach allows him to back the ball up and use the whole field. Continuing to get top hand extension will allow him to keep the barrel on plane more consistently. Erik will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Erik is a talented, well-built 1B/LHP prospect who graduates in 2020. As a left-handed hitter, Erik has a tall stance with a centered balance. He takes a short stride and has a direct swing path. Erik delivers the barrel to the baseball producing hard contact. He has the ability to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Erik works hard to be in the right place at the right time. He makes the routine plays and receives the ball with a firm glove. Erik has a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 slot with a quick release. On the mound, Erik pitches with a balanced, on-time delivery throwing with a loose arm action from a high 3/4 slot. He has the proper stride length for his frame. Erik features a fastball and curveball with good potential. Overall, Erik is a projectable prospect who has good upside in multiple areas of his game.

11/13/2016 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Erik is a tall, athletic LHP/1B who will graduate in 2020. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with power improving as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, he shows smooth / clean actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-71 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on the pitch. Stock will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Erik has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
