10/07/2015 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Ethan is a high energy player with tremendous foot speed and has a promising future on the diamond. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in his lateral movements, displaying range in the MIF and attacks balls playing through well while presenting hands well out front. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process through the fielding process. Throws are accurate with carry as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly. He has the ability to throw from multiple arm angles and can throw on the run effectively. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared / athletic setup and centered balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, showing a feel for the barrel as he uses the middle of the field well through a line drive approach. At the event, 2 for 10 as he gets out of the box well as indicated by his 4.09 home to first time. Once on base, he is an aggressive baserunner and will steal the base. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team guy and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/13/2015 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Ethan is a very talented R/R MIF who has an athletic build. Foot speed is lightning quick as he runs his 60 in 6.57. With the bat, this righty shows a balanced setup and a good base. Quick hands whip the barrel on a level path with speed to and through the zone. The ball jumps off of his bat when centered as he uses the whole field. Once on base he's a threat to steal. At 2B, Ethan is aggressive and comes to get the GB. He moves fluidly around the ball from right to left and funnels smoothly. Release is quick/clean as he fires strong throws with zip across the diamond. Avant has the tools that will make an impact and play at a high level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
