12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Ethan is a hard working 2021 catching prospect with a high baseball IQ. Behind the dish, Ethan presents a low/early glove, he works behind the ball, and tracks the ball into his glove. When blocking, he leads with his glove, he creates a good angle over the ball, and keeps the ball in front of him. When throwing, he has a quick exchange and gains ground. He needs to create momentum into the ball and quicken his footwork. At the plate, Ethan starts in a squared stance, he has a short stride, and rotates his lower half. He gets to balance and has a compact swing. He needs to continue to load on time, attack the inside part of the ball, and swing with intent. Ethan will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/17/2019 - College PREP - Pearland (Houston), TX Ethan is a tall C/OF prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Ethan shows active footwork and covers up when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Keeping his chin down when blocking can help Ethan improve as a C. In the OF, Ethan fields the ball out in front of his body and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws and keeps them accurate and on-line through his target. Ethan can improve as an OF by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He leads well with his lower half and takes a level swing. He generates fast bat speed through the zone, leading to solid contact. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Ethan improve as a hitter. Overall, Ethan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
