12/20/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Ethan is a 3B/RHP in the class of 2022. In the field, he demonstrates the ability to sync his feet with his body. He gains ground and centers the baseball. His transfers are clean and quick. His 3/4 arm slot produces accurate feeds to his targets. Presenting the glove sooner on his groundball hop read will increase his overall defensive ability. At the plate, Ethan has made tremendous strides. He begins with an open stance and his hands are relaxed. His hand separation is outstanding as it allows him to load his backside. He uses his body well to produce a fast (83 exit velo) barrel. He projects to be a line drive hitter at the next level. With continued dedication to his game, Ethan will play at the next level.

08/08/2021 - All-In Membership - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show at 3B for the first time at the event. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball up and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 71 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/21/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Omaha, NE Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 60-62 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with early break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Ethan continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his quick feet well in working to get behind balls and plays through well with his body. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 61-63 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loose spin and gradual break. Delivery is repeatable and simple as he works in line to his target. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Monticello, IA Ethan is a long, 2-way player who plays OF and RHP. Defensively, Ethan has playable hands and feet, and he stays behind fly balls well. He keeps the ball in front, has a clean exchange, and throws with a long/accurate arm to his target. On the mound, Ethan stands over the rubber well, he keeps his eyes on target, and repeats his delivery well. Offensively, Ethan has a tall/square set-up, good balance, and he makes square contact. He is a strong hitter with good bat speed and a line drive approach. Ethan can get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
