06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Ethan is an athletic young C with the potential to be a very good player. Defensively, he receives with soft hands, is on time to block with body control and has a good understanding of the responsibilities of the catching position. He will benefit from continuing to work on quickening his footwork to throw while keeping his arm path short and quick. At the plate, Ethan uses a slightly open stance with some rhythm and creates good leverage with his smooth path to the ball. He keeps his head down to contact and should continue to work on seeing the ball deeper into the zone to improve point of contact and overall effectiveness to the opposite field. He has good feel at the plate and will give himself a better chance to utilize the power he generates if he gets his front foot down on time consistently. Overall, Ethan is an athletic kid who shows flashes of how good he can be on both sides of the ball. Through continued hard work and a detailed drill package, he should develop into the kind of player who can help a team win at the next level.
