11/14/2021 - All-In Membership - Pittsburgh, PA Ethan is a strong, athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays 3B. Behind the plate, Ethan has active feet, agile range, and he tracks well to the glove. He takes good angles to block, keeps his eyes down, and has a clean exchange. Ethan throws with accuracy and consistency to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.35 seconds. Solid skills behind the plate can improve if Ethan can avoid stabbing and raise his arm slot when throwing. At 3B, Ethan has efficient footwork clean hands, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He makes plays, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy across the diamond. If Ethan can lighten footwork, attack more aggressively, and play more through the ball, abilities in the INF will get better. At the plate, Ethan has a square stance, an aggressive swing, and he makes consistent contact. He gets the bat through the zone well, and hits with strength to the pull side. Work on timing, swing path, and more lower body will help spike hitting numbers.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
