12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Ethan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.19 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a level swing path. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player, coachable, and plays the game hard.

08/18/2019 - College PREP - St. Augustine, FL Ethan is a solid, athletic catcher who will graduate in 2020. Offensively, he shows a squared, athletic setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. With flexion and good sway he pockets pitches with a soft/sure mitt. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to get his body down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.25 range with accuracy / on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Ethan has potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
