09/25/2024 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic (2025) Ethyn is an athletic shortstop and right-handed pitcher from Victorville, California, who showcased his impressive skill set at the Arizona Senior Fall Classic. He displayed excellent energy and body language on the field, with smooth actions at shortstop, impressive lateral range, and the ability to pick hops effectively. His arm velocity reached up to 86 mph, further highlighting his defensive prowess. On the mound, he commanded a strong presence, employing a loose arm stroke as he worked down the slope, demonstrating good feel for both his fastball and curveball. Throughout the event, he struck out one batter and induced soft contact. At the plate, he maintained a strong approach, keeping his hands inside the ball and making consistent hard contact. In live game action, he reached base seven times in 11 at-bats, including a double, four singles, and two walks, making him a tough out all weekend long.

02/25/2024 - National Showcase - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Ethyn is a 3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. Shows athletic actions and has good body control at baseball. He works from right to left and closes distance on batted balls. He fields from an athletic fielding position with soft hands. Has good carry on his throws across diamond with an arm velocity up to 86mph. A right-handed pitcher who throws from a 3/4 arm slot and shows a quick arm. Has a controlled landing and lands square to his target. A 3-pitch pitcher who attacks hitters with a FB that topped 83mph with tailing action and plus command. He mixes in an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with good depth and a changeup with some tailing action. At the plate he hits from an athletic and even stance. Smooth timing to swing and a fast barrel through the hitting zone. Shows the ability to hit hard line drives into both gaps. With another year of development, we foresee this 2-way prospect improving in all phases of his game.

10/13/2021 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Ethyn is a 3B in the class of 2025. His tools in the field are the strongest part of his game. He flashes good footwork and the ability to cover ground to both sides of his body. Fields from a low position with his hands presented out front. Clean exchanges and strong arm lead to good throws across the diamond. Raw arm velo has been up to 77 MPH. Ethyn is a switch hitter very capable of hitting for some power from both sides. At the plate from the right side, he starts in a tall stance. Does a good job staying balanced throughout his swing. Flashes late bat whip with good hand to hip separation. From the left side, he shows slightly less pull side pop but once again gets great extension through the center of the field. Exit velo worked up to 74 MPH. Shows a good approach and works gap to gap and hit multiple balls hard in game. Ethyn is a hard worker, team player, coachable, and hustles. Ethyn is a good prospect with 4 years of high school left that we could see playing at the next level with continued development.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
