04/07/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Sanford (Orlando), FL Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.64. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to get his body down sooner. At the plate, hitting abilities have improved through a closed setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

11/13/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Davie, FL Evan is a C/3B who continues to work harder to improve his game. Behind the plate, he displays a solid setup as he works hard centering low pitches off of his chest. His feet move well as he works in line towards his target and follows through as he throws. At the hot corner (3B), he gets into a low fielding position as he fields Gb's. He funnels the baseball to the center of his body as he comes up with a clean exchange to throw. Offensively with the bat, Evan presents a square, athletic setup in the box. He gets a load in his hands, stays balanced, and drives the ball on a line to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Smooth backhand
2. Range
3. Arm strength
Catching
1. Low setup
2. Quick feet
3. Soft hands
Offense
1. Extend through contact
2. Bat speed
3. Level swing path

08/04/2016 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, he has improved hitting / power potential through an open / balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Behind the plate, he threw his lowest pop time at 2.80 with accuracy on his throws. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Times will drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. He is a vocal leader on the field and shows good leadership qualities. Mental makeup is very coachable and he works hard to be the best player he can be. Overall, Evan has nice upside with time and room to continue to progress his game.

01/24/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Delray Beach, FL Evan is a young (2022 grad) 2-way player as a C/3B. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He swings on a direct path and works to use his lower 1/2 throughout the swing. At 3B - Evan hustles into a square fielding position and keeps the GB in front. He gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Behind the plate, Evan sits in well with a solid base while presenting a low target. He works in-line toward 2B on throws down with pop times of 3.29. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

1. Swing path
2. Bat speed
3. Extension through contact
Infield
1. Footwork/agility
2. Play through ball

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
