12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Evan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he is a prospect on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved, now showing well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

06/19/2017 - College PREP - Charleston, WV Evan is a thick, strong 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.25. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying tremendous hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through a tall, athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft /sure and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Evan has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
