09/08/2024 - National Showcase - Erie, PA Evan is a prospect from the 2027 graduating class who excels as both a catcher and right-handed pitcher, showcasing strong fundamentals and a high level of effort and energy. Behind the plate, he exhibits good pocket awareness with an easy sway and maintains a square secondary stance. His short arm stroke on throws to second base results in a best pop time of 2.35 seconds, indicating quickness and precision. As a right-handed pitcher, he starts in a balanced position, picks up his target early, and effectively works down the slope of the mound. He challenges hitters with a repertoire that includes a fastball, splitter, and knuckleball, demonstrating versatility on the mound. At the plate, he is a left-handed hitter who begins in a crouched and closed stance, keeping his head quiet as he tracks the ball. His middle-of-the-field approach allows for consistent contact. With more time to develop, he has significant potential to enhance his skills in both positions.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
