Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/OFPosition Projection

12/03/2023 - National Showcase - Pensacola, FL Evan is a LHP/OF who will graduate in 2025. He has improved in all areas of his games since the last time we saw him at a workout. In the OF he plays with active feet and good body control at baseball. Creates good angles and fields from an athletic fielding position with a clean gather off his right foot. He works behind and through flyballs and shows a quick release. Made accurate and on-line throws into infield from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 77mph. On the mound he gets a good rear hip coil and works with good direction down the mound. Has a clean arm stroke and extends out front. A 3-pitch pitcher who attacks hitters with a FB that sits 72-74mph, a 2/8 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup with some tailing action. At the plate he hits from an athletic and square stance. He starts with a short stride and gets his hands activated. Gets a good lower half turn and is centered at contact. A direct barrel enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 76mph. We are excited to see what the future holds for Evan and we hope to see him at another event as he continues to develop.

03/20/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Panama City Beach, FL Evan is a LHP/1B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. On the mound, Evan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He drives his lower half and extends through his release, finishing with his chest square to the plate. Evan operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 67mph. Breaking ball sits from 57-59mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits from 59-61mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Loosening his arm action can help Evan improve his pitch command. In the field, Evan makes the routine plays and gains ground well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to his target. Evan can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a more square fielding position. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and is fluid to load. He works to barrel up the baseball and sprays line drives to all fields. Taking a shorter stride can help Evan create more consistent contact. With three more years to develop, Evan has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Evan continues to show continues to show a promising future on the baseball diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 58 mph. Fastball showed a range of 56-58 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

08/25/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Pensacola, FL Evan is a young, solid, 2-way player who can switch hit. At 1st base, Evan has active feet, he moves well around the bag, and he makes plays consistently. He has a clean exchange and a long arm action to his target. On the mound, this LHP works on a downhill plane, he keeps his head on target, and lands with good direction toward the plate. Offensively, Evan is stronger hitter from the left side. He has a tall set-up, good bat speed, and strength in his swing. From the right, Evan has a direct barrel, he swings in some rhythm, and he uses his lower body. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Infield
1. Release
2. Footwork
Pitching
1. Landing
2. Arm action
Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
