07/25/2024 - All-Ripken Games - Elizabethtown, KY Freeman had a good showing at the All-Ripken games, going 3-9 and flashing a good, disciplined approach at the plate. His left-handed stroke shows promise with advanced bat-to-ball skills. Defensively, he is a good target at 1B who showed feel and the ability to stretch to help his infielders. He has good lateral range and dependable hands. Freeman also jumped on the mound and showed a promising 2-pitch mix with decent control of his stuff. In addition to the skills, Freeman showed some baseball IQ with good awareness on the bases giving him a complete foundation from which to continue to improve.

06/03/2024 - National Showcase - Newnan, GA Freeman is a lean 1B/RHP who will graduate in 2029. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows range of 48-51 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Freeman has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
