09/22/2021 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Gabriel continues to showcase his baseball tools at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness (7.22 60 time) in covering a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry (89 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. At the event, he was 4 for 9 with a 3B, 1 RBI and 5 SB. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Gabriel is a coachable SS/OF prospect who showed well during the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Gabriel shows smooth footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a smooth load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid gap to gap pop. Overall, Gabriel is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/18/2019 - 2019 UA SoCal Classic Underclass Participant Offensively, has a smooth left-handed swing and an aggressive approach at the plate. Defensively, has smooth fielding mechanics, with good footwork, and a high baseball IQ.

09/15/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Boise, ID Gabriel is an athletic and lean 2023 utility prospect. At SS, Gabriel is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and has quick first step to the ball. He plays through his back hand and shows range on both sides of the ball. He has solid feeds on double plays and can throw from multiple arm angles. In the OF, Gabriel is on time with his prep step, he creates good angles to the ball, and plays through the ball. He works behind fly balls and puts himself into a strong position to throw the ball. At the plate, Gabriel starts in a crouched stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets to balance with his lower half. He attacks the inside part of the ball, he creates backside drive with his lower half, and drives the ball to the middle part of the field. Gabriel will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Gabriel is a coachable SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, Gabriel takes a good first step and displays active footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with sure hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid fo the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate to his target. Taking more reps at SS can help Gabriel improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a soft stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated and remains centered with his lower half. His hips and hands work well together as he drives the ball to all fields. Gabriel can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. With four more years to develop, Gabriel has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
