Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/OFPosition Projection

12/28/2020 - Winter Pro Training Experience - TX (HS) Gabriel continues to show a solid skillset on the diamond. This 2021 grad showed great athleticism at second base with + lateral range. He has active prep footwork, a clean exchange, and on-target accuracy with his throws. Most impressively, Gabriel battles with the bat. He squared the ball up in all 3 AB's, collecting a single and hitting hard line-drives. As Gabriel develops his front foot timing, we see a possibility of a spike in his power production with his already keen sense of finding his barrel. Overall, Gabriel is a solid prospect who has upside in this his senior year.

10/04/2020 - All-In Membership - Grapevine (DFW), TX Gabriel is a 2B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Gabriel shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid contact and line drives. On the mound, Gabriel gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Gabriel shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 62-66mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 70-71mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Gabriel is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
