04/23/2017 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Gabriel is a lean RHP/3B. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.37. On the mound, delivery is sound/repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball velocities. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft/sure and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. With 3 years to further develop, Gabriel has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
