09/23/2020 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Gaelen is a coachable 1B/LHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Gaelen starts in a good ready position and shows smooth footwork. He gets into position on time and makes the routine plays. His exchange is clean and he throws with a loose arm, keeping his throws accurate and strong through his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Gaelen make more plays. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and remains centered in his lower half. He takes a short swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Gaelen can produce more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Gaelen gathers over the rubber and works with a quick arm. He stays inline toward the plate and keeps his pitches around the zone. Gaelen shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits at 63mph with 2-8 break. Developing a changeup can help Gaelen keep hitters more off balance. With three more years to develop, Gaelen has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Gaelan is a talented 1B/LHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Gaelan has an athletic setup with a centered balance. He has fluid rhythm with a good load and short stride as his lower half leads his swing. Gaelan shows fast bat speed and produces hard contact. He has a long, upward swing path. Gaelan has above average power potential and the ability to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Gaelan plays with quick footwork and agile actions showing great range. He fields the ball in an athletic position with soft hands. Gaelan has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate with good carry across the diamond. On the mound, Gaelan has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. He works downhill effectively using his frame. Gaelan stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. He features a medium breaking curveball and developing changeup. Overall, Gaelan is a well-rounded prospect who has potential to take his game to the next level.

12/17/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Thousand Oaks, CA Gaelan is an athletic, 2-way player who plays 1B and LHP. He gets good glove extension, has a clean exchange, and throws with a long arm action with good direction toward his target. On the mound Gaelan has a loose arm action, on-time separation, and he lands with good direction toward home. His CB shows well and he finishes in a complete position. At the plate, Gaelan has a square set-up, an aggressive swing, and he works the middle of the field. He has a line drive swing, makes square contact, and he uses his lower body. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
