06/12/2023 - National Showcase - Sanford (Orlando), FL Garrett continues show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 70-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 3B, feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

02/06/2022 - All-In Membership - Palmetto, FL Garrett is a tall and lean (6’1/130) RHP in the class of 2025. On the mound he displays solid presence and feel for pitching. He is a strike thrower who works on a downward angle. He gathers over the rubber and has the body control for an on-time separation and fluid arm circle. Does a nice job staying tall on his back side and has a controlled landing. He operates with a 3-pitch mix from a high ¾ arm slot. His FB topped at 71 and worked well to both sides of the plate. His CB sat 62-3 with 11/5 shape and gradual break. His CH sat 69 with FB arm speed. Experimenting with various grips on the CH, will assist in an 7-10 MPH difference on his FB and more deception. Overall, he impressed the scouts with his pitch ability and projectability.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
