06/22/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Garrett continues to show as an OF/RHP but now currently projects best on the mound for the next level. Arm strength has improved as he threw his best velocity to date, topping out at 81 mph. Fastball showed a range of 79-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will rise as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls but needs to work on getting behind balls more to play through and continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, he shows a balanced approach with rhythm. Swing path is level and he has strength in his swing the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be.
