08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Morgan continues to show a lot of improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid 7.25 runner. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well as he has improved his defensive grades in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. His throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved through an athletic setup. His hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He loads well and shows a feel for the barrel with the ball jumping off his bat when centered. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep his hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

04/15/2012 - College PREP - Louisville, KY Garrett is an OF that will graduate in 2013. Foot speed is quick as indicated by his 7.38 60 time. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls but needs to work on getting behind more to play through and improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball efficiently through a long transfer / exchange but needs to work on developing better footwork to throw and build more arm strength. At the plate, Morgan shows a solid setup and balanced approach. He shows a smooth load and solid barrel accuracy with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. To continue to improve hitting grades, he needs to work on leveling out swing path and keep barrel through the ball at contact. Garrett has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
