06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Garrett continues to show well on the mound. This RHP attacks the zone and challenges hitters every time he steps onto the rubber. Separation is smooth with strong glove side side as he stays directional toward the dish. FB still sits mid to upper 80's as he can spot up well to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with good depth. Changeup compliments his FB well as it has good sinking action. He mixes his pitches and changes speeds. Garrett is a solid RHP with upside who will compete every time his number is called.

02/19/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Garrett is a broad, strong 2018 two-way prospect with exciting tools at both positions. He shows off a cannon of an arm both on the mound and in the outfield, mowing down hitters with plus velocity and throwing out base runners with ease. He has an easy, repeatable with sound mechanics that allow him to get to a consistent release point and show command of all three pitches that he has feel for and an idea of when to throw. He features three above average pitches including a fastball up to 85mph, a sharp, late breaking curve and a deceptive changeup with sink. He displays a typical RF profile with huge arm strength and the range to make tough plays. He is athletic to field, playing through the ball and unleashing accurate lasers to cut down base runners. At the dish, he works on a level, direct path to the ball with fast bat speed through the zone. He uses his big, strong frame to generate power to the pull side and make hard contact from gap to gap. Cutting down his stride length will improve balance and allow him to stay back on breaking balls. Garrett is a very exciting prospect who looks the part of a player at the next level.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Mullican reached 88 mph with his fastball in Arizona to mark a four mph jump since last January in Auburndale at the Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. He showed the ability to land his breaking ball and changeup, and did both in fastball counts. His ability to pitch backwards allowed his fastball to play even firmer than the mid to upper 80s shown on the radar gun. While his arm has gotten stronger, he still has room to improve his delivery -- most notably his finish. With work to drive his backside more down the slope he stands to extend better through his pitches. His breaking ball should benefit the most, since the ones he stayed with the longest out front had the best action. Overall, a young right-hander with a developing delivery and the makings of a quality three-pitch mix.

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Garrett is an athletic, versatile SS/RHP'er graduating in 2018. At SS, he works around the ball with quick, smooth feet with proper footwork. He presents his glove out in front with sure/soft hands. He showed a quick exchange with great DP footwork around the bag. On the mound, Garrett throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action. He has a quiet, controlled motion with the ability to command his 3-pitch mix to both sides of the plate. He keeps the ball down with the ability to buckle hitters with his 11-5 breaker. In the box, Garrett showed an aggressive but balanced stance that was open to the pitcher. He showed glimpses of future power with his strong hands, smooth load and powerful backside. Garrett is a young player that shows a ton of tools that will take him to the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
