06/21/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Gavin is an athletic SS/RHP who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Gavin shows efficient footwork and covers a lot of ground. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to be accurate and carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He shows a smooth rhythm and takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact to all fields. Gavin can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half through more. On the mound, Gavin shows great tempo and keeps his eyes on his target throughout his motion. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 64mph with good cutting action. Breaking ball ranges form 50-57mph with 10-4 break. Gavin can improve as a pitcher by striding directly towards the plate. Overall, Gavin is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
