01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Gavin is a 2024 C prospect who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-American Tournament. Behind the plate, he works with good direction towards second base as he replaces his feet and throws from an over-the-top arm slot. Has a low secondary position, with a firm wrist, and works his thumb under ball. Showed good lateral range, with his chin tucked, and rolls his shoulders. He made accurate throws, with good carry, and an arm velocity up to 83mph and a best pop time of 2.19 seconds. At the plate, he hits from a tall and open stance. He has a controlled load, with good hand separation, and has a high finish. Gets on-plane early as he hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 87mph. During the games, he reached base 3 times with a single and drew 2 base on balls. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Gavin making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
