Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Gavin continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. This 2025 grad put on one of his best performances to date, showing improvements in his measurable categories. This OF/RHP started the day posting a 4 mph exit velocity jump from 54 to 58. This consistent improvement is something that will help Gavin progress in his career. With his all fields approach and active load, we see a bright future for Gavin's development. In the OF, Gavin displayed a relaxed pre-pitch stance and a good arm slot. With continued work on his arm strength, he is going to set himself up nicely for the future. With his all fields approach and active load, we see a bright future for Brayden's development. Overall, Gavin is a solid young prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

05/12/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Lakewood (Denver), CO Gavin is a young, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Gavin is aggressive to the ball, footwork is efficient, and he fields in a square position. He makes plays, has a clean exchange, and throws with a long arm action across the diamond. On the mound, Gavin has a good balance, a clean arm circle, and he is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Gavin has a square set-up, a short stride, and he tracks the ball well. He uses the middle of the field, can hit it the other way, and he uses some lower body. Gavin can get better with work on the following.

Infield
1. Pre-pitch actions
2. Hands
3. Release
Pitching
1. Landing
2. Release
3. Finish
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Rhythm
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
